很多人在面試時都會詢問立可的文化是什麼?這篇是來自我們新加坡同事在日常會議中的分享,有很好的答案!

I would say that thus far, it has been an amazing journey for me, thanks to all of you here in SearchAsia, one specialist brand under Recruit Express. However, with my personality, I do know that constant challenges are something that I look forward to in my working environment.

To be honest, I kind of miss the days when I just started out as a fresh graduate, not knowing what to expect, but simply just do what I deem as necessary and appropriate to hit my targets set; like getting myself confirmed within 6 months, obtaining the best new comer award amongst my batch of new hires, hitting my first personal best, and subsequently getting myself promoted just after I hit my 1 year mark. All these are small achievements along the course of my work that keeps me going, besides the fact that I love what I am doing and get to do now, especially on the part where I get to meet clients outside, connect with them, pitch my service to them, partner with them and most importantly, keep the relationship going with them.

All I can say is that, people around me are what keep me on my job. I may not be the best performer at all times but I am happy of what I have done so far, thus, what’s next is just more of myself doing even more to make myself proud, make my parents proud, and make my team proud and the list goes on.

Even though I am not so much of a bookworm, I ever came across this phrase which I read in a book, it goes like this:

“The people we surround ourselves with either raise or lower our standards. They either help us to become the-best-version-of-ourselves or encourage us to become lesser versions of ourselves. We become like our friends. No man becomes great on his own. No woman becomes great on her own. The people around them help to make them great.

We all need people in our lives who raise our standards, remind us of our essential purpose, and challenge us to become the-best-version-of-ourselves.”

As much as I agree to this paragraph, in my opinion, this is actually a two-sided coin. We are all unique people with our own potentials, strengths and weaknesses; in a people business that we are currently in, we have to acknowledge that fact, and adapt to it to our best ability. There are people who help you recognise your potential, even in their negativity. There’s also the possibility that you may be there to help others elevate themselves. So yes, be discriminating but also be aware of your contributions to the relationship, not just what benefits you.

Thinking back, for the course of the two years so far, I really have to be thankful to my ever-supporting team. We are all unique individuals and that is what makes us work together really well. No matter how confident you are in yourself, no matter how high is your self-acceptance, you have to recognise the ability of those around you, and learn to work to the best of both parties, making it a win-win situation.

Otherwise, you will only be stuck in your zone and own world that you are better than everyone else; you will never improve, and that only means that you can only achieve the best of your potential, but limited to the failure of not being able to work on the strengths of everyone else around you.

I guess this emphasizes on the point, always hire someone better than you. Never be afraid to recognize the hard work and achievements of others; in fact, learn to embrace them, learn the good points from them and work towards your next goal and target. For me, I guess it is clear that my next step is to be promoted to the next grade as a Senior Consultant, and to be a good mentor in the near future, just like my mentor, to my future mentee.

To conclude, I would like to end off with a quote that states: “Happiness is found when you stop comparing yourself to other people”. Believe in yourself, do not worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you do not even try.

Last but not least, I would like to thank everyone for helping me in one way or another throughout my two years in SearchAsia. Please continue to guide and support me to many more years ahead.
